Who We Are

Hi! I’m Sasha Johns, the operating partner and designer at Amazing Flowers and Occasions, and I’m honored and thrilled to be curating the growth and newest evolution of  a business with very deep roots in the Shelby County Seat. Shelby County is a place I dearly love and have roots of my own in fact.

I love flowers, I love retail, and I love Columbiana’s historic Main Street. I have a combined thirty years of experience as a retail manager and cottage industry maker that have prepared me for my work at AFO.

The store has a strong foundation of beautiful work and excellent customer service that started with the first owner, Gertie Jones,  and it’s been my privilege to continue build on that foundation.  As I began to preserve, but also rebrand this history of service, it became important to me to not only deliver a beautiful product with floral design, but also to curate a collection of plants, silks, and gifts that make our studio both a place to shop, and gather with friends to create. I try to find locally made product where I can, and I’m always on the lookout for artists and makers that offer the very best from our little corner of Alabama. I love how our community has supported this business for decades, so I in turn,  want to support our community by providing a place to enjoy and foster friendships through plant education and floral design and we do that in our workshop area in the center of the studio. We host monthly workshops for kids and adults alike,  and offer our space for birthday parties and ladies nights out and other occasions that our customers dream up.

We don’t just make amazing flowers for delivery, we also provide stunning floral designs for outside events like weddings, showers, celebrations of all kinds, as well as tributes to those who have gone on ahead us.

I don’t want your experience with Amazing Flowers and Occasions to be run of the mill. I want it to be AMAZING. As we grow and continue to build our staff and our brand, we’ll work hard to stand out in the communities that we serve. I look forward to continuing to serve and help build a better community.
